　　自民國97年5月23日起，結婚在法律上的正式承認已經改採「登記制」，無論是否舉辦婚宴，只要沒有在戶政事務所登記結婚，您的婚姻在法律上便不被承認。因此，準備好結婚登記所需的資料至關重要。以下，我們將帶您一探結婚登記的全過程，幫助新人輕鬆完成這一重要步驟。
Since May 23, 2008, the legal recognition of marriage in Taiwan has adopted a "registration system." Whether or not a wedding banquet is held, your marriage will not be legally recognized unless you register at the household registration office. Therefore, it is crucial to prepare the necessary documents for marriage registration. Below, we will guide you through the entire marriage registration process, helping newlyweds complete this important step with ease.

在台灣進行結婚登記，您需攜帶以下文件：
For marriage registration in Taiwan, you need to bring the following documents:

1. 雙方當事人的國民身份證（若為外籍人士，則需提供護照）。National Identification Cards of both parties (if foreign nationals, passports are required).
2. 雙方當事人的戶口名簿正本。Original Household Registration Booklets of both parties.
3. 新式身分證規格照片各1張。One photo per person that meets the specifications for the new ID card.
4. 含有2位證人簽名的結婚書約1份。One marriage agreement with the signatures of two witnesses.
5. 換發身分證費用：每張50元。Fee for reissuing ID cards: NT$50 per card.
6. 換發戶口名簿費用：每份30元。Fee for reissuing household registration booklets: NT$30 per booklet.
7. 申請結婚證明書費用：100元。Fee for applying for a marriage certificate: NT$100.

注意事項：若未成年人結婚，需另附法定代理人之同意書。

　　結婚書約是結婚證書的現代版本，自民國97年起統一更名為結婚書約。新人可同時申請結婚證明書，費用為100元。
The marriage agreement is the modern version of the marriage certificate and has been uniformly renamed since 2008. Newlyweds can also apply for a marriage certificate, which costs NT$100.

結婚登記證人規定
Marriage Registration Witness Requirements

　　很多新人在考慮結婚證人時可能會覺得麻煩，實際上這並不需要太過擔心。證人只需在結婚書約上簽名或蓋章即可，並不需要親臨現場。這樣可以節省不少時間和精力。
Many newlyweds may find the idea of marriage witnesses troublesome, but in reality, there’s no need to worry too much. Witnesses only need to sign or stamp the marriage agreement; they don’t need to be physically present. This can save a lot of time and effort.
 

　　結婚登記當日，雙方當事人需親自前往戶政事務所辦理，並提供兩位年滿20歲且具備行為能力之證人簽名或蓋章，證人無需親臨現場。
On the day of the marriage registration, both parties must go to the household registration office in person and provide signatures or stamps from two witnesses who are over 20 years old and have legal capacity. The witnesses do not need to be physically present.

1. 抽號碼牌：排隊等候。Draw a number: Wait in line.
2. 繳交資料：提交已填寫並附有證人簽名的結婚書約。Submit documents: Hand in the completed marriage agreement with witness signatures.
3. 辦理文件：領取相關文件、換發證件並繳納費用。Process documents: Receive relevant documents, renew IDs, and pay fees.
4. 完成登記：取得登記完成的確認。Complete registration: Obtain confirmation of registration completion.

　　很多新人會問：「我應該選哪個戶政事務所辦理結婚登記呢？」這取決於您是否需要同時辦理戶籍遷入。選擇遷入地的戶政事務所辦理，可以讓整個過程更加順暢和高效。
Many newlyweds may ask, "Which household registration office should I choose for my marriage registration?" It depends on whether you need to simultaneously process household registration transfer. Choosing the office in the area where you are moving can make the process smoother and more efficient.
 

若需同時辦理戶籍遷入，應選擇遷入地的戶政事務所辦理。
If you need to process household registration transfer at the same time, you should choose the household registration office in the area where you are moving. For example, if Alan plans to move his household registration to Xinyi District in Taipei, he should go to the Xinyi District household registration office in Taipei for marriage registration and household registration transfer.

Modern life is busy, and being able to register marriages on holidays or at night is undoubtedly a blessing. Thanks to the government for these convenient measures, we can arrange our time more flexibly and easily complete the registration.
 

　　政府為了方便上班族，開放假日及夜間預約結婚登記服務。一般營業時間為週一至週五8:30至17:30，部分戶政事務所提供夜間彈性服務（17:30～20:00）。新人可在網上預約或致電戶政事務所，需注意假日辦理登記需提前至少三天預約。
To accommodate working people, the government allows marriage registration appointments on holidays and nights. Regular office hours are from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with some household registration offices offering flexible night services (5:30 PM to 8:00 PM). 　　新人可指定登記日期，但需在指定日的前三天（下午3點前）預約。例如，若新人希望在2024年10月26日（週六）登記結婚，則需在10月23日至10月25日期間到戶政事務所申請並指定日期。需要注意的是，假日結婚登記僅當日生效，無法指定為其他平日生效。
Newlyweds can specify the registration date, but an appointment must be made three working days in advance (before 3 PM). For example, if a couple wishes to register their marriage on Saturday, April 13, 2024, they should apply and specify the date between April 10 and April 12 at the household registration office. Note that holiday marriage registrations are only effective on the same day and cannot be specified for another weekday.

　　許多戶政事務所提供便利服務，如新北市的戶政事務所在例假日仍提供服務，允許新人指定結婚登記生效日。例如，若在星期六辦理登記，可指定星期日、星期一、星期二或星期三為生效日。
Many household registration offices offer convenient services, such as those in New Taipei City, which still operate on holidays and allow newlyweds to specify the effective date of their marriage registration. For example, if you register on a Saturday, you can specify Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday as the effective date.
